nation. 01:00.800 --> 01:04.140 They've been in captivity for 70 plus years 01:04.540 --> 01:08.680 and so now they're starting the progress of returning 01:08.680 --> 01:10.800 and coming back out of the nations 01:10.800 --> 01:13.040 and returning back to the house of Jerusalem 01:13.340 --> 01:15.040 to reestablish this nation. 01:15.860 --> 01:17.800 And notice in the reestablishment, 01:18.000 --> 01:20.260 God is giving them some instructions here 01:20.800 --> 01:24.940 and a recipe for success is that they would speak, 01:25.520 --> 01:28.160 ye every man the truth to his neighbor 01:28.160 --> 01:30.260 and to execute the judgment of truth 01:30.260 --> 01:32.540 and to be a lover of truth. 01:33.000 --> 01:34.780 And what I've noticed in the Bible 01:35.500 --> 01:38.460 is it feels like a main theme. 01:39.080 --> 01:41.980 It feels like just the main emphasis that you see 01:41.980 --> 01:44.860 from Genesis to Revelation is two groups 01:44.860 --> 01:46.360 pitted against one another, 01:46.660 --> 01:50.680 those who love the truth and those who hate the truth. 01:52.220 --> 01:54.580 And then another word for this would be called liars. 01:55.000 --> 01:57.420 So the title of my sermon this evening is this, 01:57.640 --> 01:59.440 lovers of truth versus liars. 02:00.100 --> 02:01.700 So we're gonna take a journey through the Bible 02:02.160 --> 02:03.520 and then we're gonna take a second journey 02:03.520 --> 02:03.960 through the Bible. 02:04.100 --> 02:05.740 The first journey is gonna take a journey 02:05.740 --> 02:07.500 through the lovers of truth. 02:08.060 --> 02:11.520 And look, the Bible just emphasizes lovers of truth. 02:11.640 --> 02:15.360 Now, why would it pit these two groups against one another 02:15.360 --> 02:17.880 because of the fact that we're all sinners? 02:18.620 --> 02:21.100 There's not like good people versus bad people. 02:21.380 --> 02:23.740 There's not like these really good sinners 02:23.740 --> 02:25.060 versus the really bad sinners. 02:25.460 --> 02:26.380 We're all sinners. 02:26.960 --> 02:30.860 So really the fight, the battle is over those 02:30.860 --> 02:34.800 who love 03:01.940 Jesus Christ himself is the truth. 03:02.060 --> 03:03.380 He's the way, the truth and the life. 03:03.540 --> 03:05.020 No man comes other than the father, but by him. 03:05.520 --> 03:07.540 The gospel is considered the gospel of truth. 03:07.900 --> 03:10.380 The Bible describes the Holy Spirit, the spirit of truth. 03:10.740 --> 03:12.460 Everything about God is true. about their truth, my truth. 03:38.300 --> 03:39.020 But here's the thing. 03:39.080 --> 03:40.420 There's no such thing as my truth. 03:40.500 --> 03:41.440 It's either true or it's not. 03:42.440 wanna go back to Psalms, go to Psalm 15. 04:43.360 --> 04:44.920 We're gonna take a journey through the Bible. 04:45.040 --> 04:46.660 Let's just look at a lot of passages this evening. 04:47.360 --> 04:48.940 We're gonna do more of like a Bible study 04:50.220 --> 04:51.900 in perspective of the sermon, 04:52.280 --> 04:54.140 but I wanna just look at a lot of Bible 04:54.140 --> 04:55.760 because of course the Bible talks about 04:55.760 --> 04:58.080 faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. 04:58.400 --> 05:01.500 And of course, if we're gonna love the truth 05:02.420 --> 05:04.780 in really thinking about this sermon, 05:05.320 --> 05:06.960 I'm like how do you love the truth 05:06.960 --> 05:08.940 is you have to hear it, you have to hear it. 05:09.240 --> 05:10.400 If you're not reading the Bible 05:10.400 --> 05:11.500 and if you're not hearing the Bible 05:11.500 --> 05:12.700 you're just not gonna love truth. 05:13.360 --> 05:14.900 You love the truth because you hear it. 05:15.240 --> 05:16.700 You love the truth because you're seeing it. 05:17.180 --> 05:18.440 Psalm 15, look at verse one. 05:18.760 --> 05:20.620 Lord, who shall abide, night, tabernacle? 05:21.100 --> 05:22.520 Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 05:22.980 --> 05:25.100 He that walketh up rightly and worketh righteousness, 05:25.440 --> 05:28.140 notice this, and speaketh the truth in his heart. 05:28.680 --> 05:30.000 So notice the people that are gonna be 05:30.000 --> 05:31.920 in the house of God, that are loving God 05:31.920 --> 05:34.140 are the people 05:41.820 --> 05:45.180 They're returning back to the nation of Judah 05:45.180 --> 05:46.660 to reestablish Jerusalem. 05:46.980 --> 05:49.280 But it's kind of a picture of what church is like too 05:49.280 --> 05:51.300 where you're calling people out of the world. 05:51.580 --> 05:53.200 You're calling people out from the heathen 05:53.200 --> 05:56.200 and you're separating yourselves under the house of God 05:56.200 --> 05:58.040 which is a picture of what church is. 05:58.240 --> 06:00.000 And when they do that, they're supposed to be 06:00.000 --> 06:01.840 lovers of truth and speaking the truth. 06:02.060 --> 06:04.280 And they're coming to the house of God 06:04.280 --> 06:05.420 which is supposed to be the pillar 06:05.420 --> 06:07.600 and ground of the truth. 06:07.600 --> 06:09.820 So who's gonna abide in God's house? 06:10.040 --> 06:12.200 Who's gonna abide in this quote tabernacle? 06:12.540 --> 06:14.720 It's gonna be those that speak the truth in his heart. 06:15.320 --> 06:16.860 You know, you could take another layer here 06:16.860 --> 06:18.780 of the fact that those who speak the truth in their heart 06:18.780 --> 06:20.460 is a picture of people that have accepted the gospel 06:20.840 --> 06:22.040 and those are the saved 06:22.040 --> 06:23.380 and so those are the ones that are gonna dwell 06:23.380 --> 06:24.740 with God are the saved. 06:25.040 --> 06:26.300 If you don't speak the truth in your heart 06:26.300 --> 06:27.540 you're not saved and you're not of God 06:27.540 --> 06:29.020 and you're not gonna dwell in this tabernacle. 06:29.840 --> 06:32.960 It says in Psalm 51, go to Psalm 51 if you would 06:32.960 --> 06:35.400 flip just a few pages and look at verse number six. 06:37.600 --> 06:40.420 And this is a desire that God has for his people. 06:41.180 --> 06:43.720 The Psalmist is just essentially telling us, 06:43.920 --> 06:45.420 Psalm 51 verse six, behold, 06:46.620 --> 06:50.060 thou desirous truth in the inward parts. 06:50.400 --> 06:51.720 And in the hidden part, 06:51.980 --> 06:53.640 thou shalt make me to know wisdom. 06:54.080 --> 06:58.420 Notice God wants us to have truth in the inward parts, 06:58.860 --> 07:01.460 in our hearts, inside of us. 07:01.660 --> 07:04.200 He wants us to love the truth and have that truth 07:04.200 --> 07:05.440 inside of us. 07:05.440 --> 07:06.460 Go to Psalm 119. 07:07.300 --> 07:07.880 You're gonna be, 07:08.080 --> 07:09.740 we're just gonna be flipping through the Bible here. 07:09.940 --> 07:11.780 Psalm 119 and look at verse number 30. 07:12.520 --> 07:14.600 Psalm 119 and look at verse number 30. 07:17.940 --> 07:20.320 Verse 30 says, I have chosen the way of truth. 07:21.360 --> 07:24.900 Thy judgments have I laid before me. 07:25.000 --> 07:27.720 So notice the Psalmist is saying that he's made a choice 07:27.720 --> 07:30.300 and what is the choice, the way of truth? 07:31.040 --> 07:32.040 You have to love the truth, 07:32.200 --> 07:34.580 even start on the journey towards truth. 07:34.980 --> 07:36.600 And so when you don't even love the truth, 07:36.780 --> 07:38.220 you have no way of even improving. 07:38.680 --> 07:40.560 We have to first identify truth 07:40.560 --> 07:41.300 and we have to love truth. 07:41.380 --> 07:44.180 And of course I would argue one of those truths 07:44.180 --> 07:46.120 that we all need to embrace and accept 07:46.120 --> 07:48.860 is that the King James Bible is God's word. 07:49.680 --> 07:51.420 And when you love that truth, 07:51.560 --> 07:53.120 then you can start to clean yourself up. 07:53.340 --> 07:56.120 And what I've noticed is the non-denominational 07:56.700 --> 07:57.920 viewpoint of Bible versions, 07:58.060 --> 07:59.500 just pick whatever Bible you want. 07:59.800 --> 08:01.440 They don't actually clean themselves up 08:01.440 --> 08:02.660 because they're not lovers of truth. 08:03.100 --> 08:04.560 They don't want to know what the truth is 08:04.560 --> 08:06.000 and they say strange things. 08:06.280 --> 08:08.300 Anytime I hear these people talking about the Bible 08:08.300 --> 08:09.300 and they're using these modern versions, 08:09.360 --> 08:10.880 I'm thinking, what the heck did you just say? 08:12.340 --> 08:12.980 It's weird. 08:13.500 --> 08:16.360 I was listening to some guys talk about salvation 08:16.900 --> 08:18.220 and once saved, always saved. 08:18.680 --> 08:20.700 And they were talking about Hebrews six 08:21.420 --> 08:24.360 and they were like, oh, well, you know, 08:24.500 --> 08:26.920 the reason, and again, they have a different viewpoint 08:26.920 --> 08:28.180 than I do on Hebrews six. 08:28.260 --> 08:30.260 They were saying these people are not saved or whatever. 08:30.760 --> 08:33.680 But their justification was like verse nine. 08:34.080 --> 08:35.440 And in the King James, it says, 08:35.600 --> 08:37.720 we speak better things of these than that. 08:37.860 --> 08:39.720 And it's like, and things that accompany salvation. 08:40.340 --> 08:41.620 So like in the King James is saying, 08:41.700 --> 08:42.920 hey, what we just talked about, 08:43.500 --> 08:45.380 we are persuaded better things of you 08:45.380 --> 08:47.060 and we're gonna talk about things 08:47.060 --> 08:48.040 that accompany salvation. 08:48.780 --> 08:52.140 The ESV says that we were talking to you 08:52.140 --> 08:53.840 about things that belong to salvation. 08:54.640 --> 08:56.360 So it's like King James saying, 08:56.460 --> 08:57.160 hey, we're talking about things 08:57.160 --> 08:58.380 that accompany salvation. 08:58.920 --> 09:00.680 And then the ESV saying, 09:00.740 --> 09:02.460 we're talking about things that belong to salvation. 09:02.880 --> 09:05.160 So it's just like completely changing
