churches. 00:18.290 --> 00:21.590 And now people get up and preach what the Bible says, 00:21.810 --> 00:23.470 just sound doctrine from the Bible 00:23.910 --> 00:27.170 and everybody acts like it's some crazy thing. 00:27.490 --> 00:29.130 It's really because our society 00:29.130 --> 00:31.110 has just become so brainwashed 00:31.110 --> 00:33.370 by this wicked ideology of feminism. 00:33.830 --> 00:35.190 Now a lot of people will come along and say, 00:35.470 --> 00:37.250 oh, well feminism was really good 00:37.250 --> 00:39.810 and it really did a lot of good things for our country 00:39.810 --> 00:41.710 and for women in the early days, 00:41.990 --> 00:44.610 but then it just sort of got out of control at some point. 00:44.970 --> 00:48.050 But I'm gonna show you that even the very first wave 00:48.050 --> 00:51.610 of feminism is 100% unbiblical. 00:52.130 --> 00:53.950 This was never a godly movement. 00:54.190 --> 00:56.610 This was never Bible believing Christians 00:57.070 --> 00:59.830 trying to promote good Christian womanhood 00:59.830 --> 01:00.630 or anything like that. 01:00.790 --> 01:03.950 It's always been something that is non-Christian, okay? 01:04.530 --> 01:09.570 Now the first wave of feminism goes from 1848 to 1920. 01:09.710 --> 01:12.030 That's pretty much what it's delineated as. 01:12.350 --> 01:14.850 And there was this document that was drafted 01:15.230 --> 01:20.030 at the first meeting for women's rights in 1848. 01:20.390 --> 01:23.390 And this sort of became the founding document 01:23.390 --> 01:26.230 for the women's rights, women's lib, 01:26.570 --> 01:28.030 feminist movements in our country. 01:28.550 --> 01:30.410 And again, it's from 1848. 01:31.010 --> 01:32.510 And my sermon tonight is just, 01:32.630 --> 01:34.630 I'm just gonna go through this document tonight 01:34.630 --> 01:36.610 and just show you what the Bible says. 01:36.890 --> 01:40.170 And there are basically 16 main points to this. 01:40.230 --> 01:42.150 And I'm gonna try to get through all 16 of these. 01:42.470 --> 01:44.270 A lot of them are redundant with one another. 01:44.610 --> 01:47.170 There's really only six main points that they're making. 01:47.470 --> 01:48.970 I was able to boil it down to that. 01:49.950 --> 01:52.030 But first I'm gonna read for you part of the introduction 01:52.030 --> 01:53.370 because what this thing is, 01:53.410 --> 01:56.030 this document's called the Declaration of Sentiments. 01:56.610 --> 01:59.370 And it's meant to be like kind of a mockery 01:59.370 --> 02:01.350 of the Declaration of Independence. 02:01.830 --> 02:04.030 So it's worded like the Declaration of Independence, 02:04.190 --> 02:05.630 when in the course of human events, 02:05.890 --> 02:09.050 but it's this weird, I am woman, hear me roar stuff. 02:09.590 --> 02:11.510 But let me just read you part of the introduction. 02:11.730 --> 02:14.150 It says this, the history of mankind 02:14.750 --> 02:20.070 is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations 02:20.450 --> 02:22.790 on the part of man toward woman. 02:23.550 --> 02:24.890 Having a direct object, 02:25.190 --> 02:28.350 the establishment of an absolute tyranny over her 02:28.710 --> 02:32.370 to prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world. 02:32.570 --> 02:33.910 And then it gives the 16 points. 02:34.330 --> 02:37.790 So notice, they are claiming that man is quote, 02:38.770 --> 02:40.570 usurping authority over the woman. 02:40.890 --> 02:42.730 I don't think that it's a coincidence 02:43.090 --> 02:44.350 that they use this language, 02:44.550 --> 02:47.450 which is the exact opposite of what the Bible teaches 02:47.450 --> 02:49.090 because look down at your Bible. 02:49.090 --> 02:50.730 It says in verse 11, 02:50.970 --> 02:53.650 let the woman learn in silence with all subjection, 02:54.210 --> 02:56.230 but I suffer not a woman to teach 02:56.230 --> 02:59.750 nor to usurp authority over the man, 03:00.030 --> 03:01.230 but to be in silence, 03:01.650 --> 03:03.410 for Adam was first formed, then Eve, 03:03.810 --> 03:04.910 and Adam was not deceived, 03:05.030 --> 03:07.010 but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 03:07.310 --> 03:09.550 And so what we see here is that the Bible is saying, 03:09.630 --> 03:11.770 look, do not allow the woman 03:11.770 --> 03:13.330 to usurp authority over the man. 03:13.410 --> 03:15.730 And then these broads are basically saying, 03:15.730 --> 03:17.570 no, no, no, it's the man 03:17.570 --> 03:19.690 who's usurping authority over the woman. 03:19.850 --> 03:22.570 No, that's his God-given authority over the woman. 03:23.050 --> 03:24.950 The husband is the head of the wife. 03:25.370 --> 03:27.150 Even as Christ is the head of the church, 03:27.270 --> 03:28.190 that's what the Bible says. 03:29.230 --> 03:31.070 So let's look at their 16 points. 03:31.230 --> 03:35.310 Number one, he has never permitted her 03:35.770 --> 03:38.510 to exercise her inalienable right 03:38.510 --> 03:39.870 to the elective franchise. 03:40.490 --> 03:43.090 So point number one is women aren't allowed to vote. 03:43.210 --> 03:44.550 That's their number one grievance. 03:45.070 --> 03:48.810 Point number two, he has compelled her to submit to laws 03:49.400 --> 03:51.550 in the formation of which she had no voice. 03:51.950 --> 03:54.850 So point number two is also women aren't allowed to vote. 03:55.390 --> 03:58.670 Point number three, he has withheld from her rights 03:58.670 --> 04:01.730 which are given to the most ignorant and degraded men, 04:02.190 --> 04:03.690 both natives and foreigners. 04:04.310 --> 04:06.370 Again, we don't have the right to vote. 04:06.690 --> 04:09.770 Basically, she's saying, the dumbest bozo 04:09.770 --> 04:12.750 if he's a dude has the right to vote in America, 04:13.350 --> 04:14.710 yet women don't. 04:15.090 --> 04:16.570 And so the first three points, again, 04:16.990 --> 04:18.430 there's a lot of redundancy here. 04:19.210 --> 04:22.350 The fourth point says having deprived her 04:22.350 --> 04:25.710 of the first right of a citizen, the elective franchise, 04:26.410 --> 04:28.530 thereby leaving her without representation 04:28.530 --> 04:29.870 in the halls of legislation, 04:30.290 --> 04:31.410 he has oppressed her on all sides. 04:31.730 --> 04:33.110 So you notice that out of 16 points, 04:33.210 --> 04:36.510 the first four points are all the same thing 04:36.510 --> 04:38.650 saying women don't have a right to vote 04:38.650 --> 04:39.830 and that's what we're upset about. 04:39.830 --> 04:43.070 So you can see that the big push in the first wave 04:43.070 --> 04:46.770 of feminism was getting women the right to vote 04:46.770 --> 04:50.390 and that's why the first wave is seen as ending in 1920 04:50.390 --> 04:52.470 because by the time you get to 1920, 04:52.590 --> 04:54.390 you've passed the 19th amendment 04:54.870 --> 04:57.210 and then women were allowed to vote nationwide 04:57.210 --> 04:58.150 at that point. 04:59.310 --> 05:01.010 Now, what does the Bible say about this? 05:01.090 --> 05:03.130 Well, flip over if you would to Isaiah chapter number three. 05:03.430 --> 05:04.570 Isaiah chapter number three. 05:04.870 --> 05:05.810 But first of all, let me give you 05:05.810 --> 05:07.930 some dictionary definitions here, okay? 05:08.610 --> 05:14.030 Because our country is founded as a democratic republic, right? 05:14.470 --> 05:17.430 And even we have two parties in the United States, 05:17.470 --> 05:19.150 we have the Republicans and the Democrats 05:19.150 --> 05:21.210 and the reason that they're called that 05:21.210 --> 05:24.510 is because the Republicans tend to lean more toward 05:24.510 --> 05:27.430 like the Republic aspect of our government, 05:27.430 --> 05:30.030 whereas the Democrats tend to lean more 05:30.030 --> 05:31.610 toward the Democratic aspect. 05:31.870 --> 05:35.570 So those names are fitting names for the ideologies 05:35.570 --> 05:37.330 that kind of drive the two parties 05:37.330 --> 05:40.230 but our country has elements of both. 05:40.630 --> 05:44.390 It's a republic but it's considered a democratic republic. 05:44.710 --> 05:45.970 So what do these words mean? 05:46.310 --> 05:47.770 What does the word democracy mean? 05:48.290 --> 05:50.610 Well, here's this a dictionary definition, democracy. 05:51.250 --> 05:54.710 Government by the people, a form of government 05:54.710 --> 05:58.690 in which the supreme power is vested in the people 05:59.010 --> 06:01.610 and exercised directly by them 06:01.610 --> 06:05.650 or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. 06:05.650 --> 06:07.970 And so the definition here is saying 06:07.970 --> 06:11.490 that democracy means the power is in the people 06:11.490 --> 06:14.930 and they exercise that power by voting, okay? 06:15.490 --> 06:17.090 Now listen to the definition of a republic, 06:17.850 --> 06:21.330 a state in which the supreme power rests 06:21.330 --> 06:24.690 in the body of citizens entitled to vote 06:24.950 --> 06:28.070 and is exercised by representatives chosen directly 06:28.070 --> 06:29.050 or indirectly by them. 06:29.390 --> 06:30.970 Notice both of these definitions, 06:31.250 --> 06:34.310 whether it's Democrat or Republic, right? 06:34.310 --> 06:37.530 It's saying that the power, the supreme power, 06:37.850 --> 06:41.550 the ultimate power is resting in the citizens 06:41.550 --> 06:44.890 who are allowed to vote, who are able to vote. 06:45.070 --> 06:46.190 Well then here's my question. 06:46.630 --> 06:48.370 Then if women are allowed to vote 06:48.370 --> 06:51.470 is that not women ruling or having power 06:51.470 --> 06:53.930 or having authority in the political process? 06:54.210 --> 06:58.150 If that is the final most supreme authority is the voter 06:58.970 --> 07:03.070 then why would it be God's will to grant that power 07:03.070 --> 07:05.930 to women when the Bible specifically says 07:05.930 --> 07:09.030 that women are not to exercise authority over men? 07:09.910 --> 07:12.330 Now look what the Bible says in Isaiah chapter three, 07:12.390 --> 07:14.570 verse 12, it says, as for my people, 07:15.190 --> 07:19.570 children are their oppressors and women rule over them. 07:20.210 --> 07:25.230 Oh my people, they which lead thee, excuse me, 07:25.510 --> 07:28.450 they which lead thee cause thee to err 07:28.810 --> 07:30.990 and destroy the way of thy paths. 07:31.530 --> 07:33.610 And so you notice here that the Bible is saying 07:33.610 --> 07:35.930 that when women rule over you, 07:35.990 --> 07:37.450 this is a backward situation. 07:37.850 --> 07:40.130 You don't give authority to the children in the home. 07:40.310 --> 07:43.850 You don't give authority to women to rule over men. 07:44.110 --> 07:45.190 This is an error. 07:45.590 --> 07:48.490 This is wandering away from God's plan. 07:48.890 --> 07:50.910 Paul said, I suffer not a woman to teach 07:50.910 --> 07:52.810 nor do you serve authority over the man 07:52.810 --> 07:53.290 but to be in silence. 07:53.530 --> 07:55.910 I mean, imagine if we were in a church 07:55.910 --> 07:59.170 and what if the church were made up 60% of women 07:59.170 --> 08:02.090 and 40% of men and then we're gonna have some 08:02.090 --> 08:03.710 out of a democratic process 08:03.710 --> 08:06.710 and then the women are basically running the church. 08:07.210 --> 08:07.730 Literally. 08:08.550 --> 08:11.590 They're literally the majority vote are women 08:11.590 --> 08:13.990 and that's what's going on in churches all over America. 08:14.770 --> 08:19.010 Now the sad thing is none of these 16 points are biblical. 08:19.530 --> 08:20.970 They're not coming from a place 08:20.970 --> 08:23.090 of godly biblical Christianity 08:23.090 --> 08:25.510 and yet as I went through these 16 points, 08:25.590 --> 08:28.410 I believe that the independent fundamental Baptist 08:28.410 --> 08:30.630 and evangelical Christians of America 08:30.630 --> 08:33.570 probably agree with about 14 of these at this point. 08:33.930 --> 08:36.150 I agree with zero of their points. 08:37.390 --> 08:39.250 And you know how I can prove it to you 08:39.250 --> 08:42.510 is that literally in fundamental Baptist churches 08:42.510 --> 08:44.910 across America, they have business meetings 08:44.910 --> 08:47.070 and women vote in the business meetings. 08:47.890 --> 08:50.890 So if they believe that women should vote in church, 08:51.090 --> 08:52.690 how much more do they believe 08:52.690 --> 08:54.970 that women should be voting for political things? 08:55.250 --> 08:56.970 They're letting them even run the church 08:56.970 --> 08:57.970 and vote in the church. 08:57.970 --> 09:00.410 Even though they can often even make up a majority. 09:00.910 --> 09:02.690 Now our church is not majority women. 09:03.030 --> 09:05.110 Our church has a pretty balanced demographic 09:05.110 --> 09:06.970 and always has been, but you know what? 09:07.050 --> 09:08.190 A lot of churches, unfortunately, 09:08.630 --> 09:11.610 you go in and it's more women than men 09:11.610 --> 09:13.290 and you say, well, why is that a problem? 09:13.610 --> 09:15.170 Well, because here's the thing about that is 09:15.170 --> 09:18.570 it's a shame when you're such a pansy of a preacher 09:18.570 --> 09:20.450 that you can't get a hair-legged man 09:20.450 --> 09:21.290 to come hear you preach. 09:22.550 --> 09:24.570 And the only people who want to come hear you preach 09:25.040 --> 09:29.090 are women and old ladies and the elderly and children. 09:29.330 --> 09:30.990 And you can't get a hair-legged man 09:30.990 --> 09:33.750 to come hear you preach because he doesn't respect you. 09:35.290 --> 09:38.070 And by the way, there've been all kinds of studies 09:38.070 --> 09:40.270 that show that if dad goes to church, 09:40.330 --> 09:41.870 the rest of the family will follow, 09:42.150 --> 09:44.270 whereas if the mom goes to church, not necessarily. 09:44.630 --> 09:47.750 Statistically, men tend to be the anchor 09:48.810 --> 09:51.170 that's gonna get the whole family in church, if anything. 09:51.650 --> 09:55.630 But to sit there and have a church that's 60, 70% women, 09:56.010 --> 09:56.870 you know, that's too bad. 09:57.010 --> 09:59.190 You need to figure out how to go be fishers of men, 09:59.450 --> 10:00.790 get some men in church, 10:01.610 --> 10:03.910 but then you're gonna invest them basically 10:03.910 --> 10:06.830 the final supreme authority by running it 10:06.830 --> 10:08.210 in a democratic way. 10:08.550 --> 10:10.990 And that's what we have going on today in churches. 10:11.450 --> 10:14.050 We have women voting in business meetings, 10:14.430 --> 10:17.110 women voting on decisions that the church makes. 10:17.450 --> 10:19.690 Every fundamental Baptist church I've ever been a part of 10:19.690 --> 10:22.150 had women voting, and you know what, they're wrong. 10:22.710 --> 10:25.850 And it goes back to this stuff from 1848 10:25.850 --> 10:29.650 and it's not biblical, nowhere does the Bible say, 10:29.990 --> 10:31.550 hey, we gotta put the women in charge, 10:32.030 --> 10:33.470 we gotta have the women decide, 10:33.870 --> 10:35.850 we gotta make sure that they agree with, no, no, no. 10:36.070 --> 10:38.950 The church is supposed to be a man-run institution. 10:39.990 --> 10:42.790 Okay, God is ultimately the boss, 10:43.210 --> 10:44.930 Jesus Christ is the head of the church, 10:45.130 --> 10:47.790 and then he has appointed a bishop, elder, 10:47.790 --> 10:50.670 overseer, pastor, and that guy, 10:51.090 --> 10:52.570 and I emphasize the word guy, 10:53.430 --> 10:56.410 is responsible to Christ to lead the church, 10:56.670 --> 10:58.350 and it should be men running the church. 10:58.430 --> 10:58.910 How do I know that? 10:58.970 --> 11:01.270 Because the Bible says, I suffer not a woman to teach, 11:01.530 --> 11:03.490 nor do you serve authority over the man. 11:04.010 --> 11:06.550 So women are not supposed to take over positions 11:06.550 --> 11:08.410 of authority in the church, 11:08.650 --> 11:11.190 and if you're gonna run the church like a democracy, 11:12.090 --> 11:14.290 then if you give women the power to vote, 11:14.290 --> 11:17.990 you are allowing the most supreme power 11:17.990 --> 11:19.210 to be put in the hands of women, 11:19.450 --> 11:22.210 that's the definition of democracy and republic 11:22.210 --> 11:25.330 is that the supreme power is in the hands of the voter. 11:27.030 --> 11:29.190 So if you're gonna run the church based on a vote, 11:29.410 --> 11:30.690 and then you're gonna let women vote, 11:30.810 --> 11:32.430 you're basically letting women run the church. 11:33.250 --> 11:34.610 Now you say, I don't know, This is the Bible. 11:41.290 --> 11:44.050 The Bible was written 2,000 years ago. 11:44.710 --> 11:46.830 In 1848, these women are mad 11:46.830 --> 11:48.150 because nobody agrees with them. 11:49.070 --> 11:51.570 Churches don't, you think women were voting in churches 11:51.570 --> 11:53.650 in 1848, you think Bible-believing, 11:53.770 --> 11:55.750 fundamental Baptist type churches 11:56.090 --> 12:00.890 or even conservative Presbyterian churches, Baptist churches, 12:01.170 --> 12:04.270 you name it, you really think that they're letting women 12:04.270 --> 12:06.610 run the church in actual conservative 12:06.610 --> 12:08.090 Bible-believing churches, they weren't. 12:09.070 --> 12:10.970 Just like they weren't allowed to vote politically. 12:11.550 --> 12:14.090 You know the Bible says in 1 Corinthians chapter 11, 12:14.190 --> 12:15.430 verse three, I would have you know 12:15.430 --> 12:17.090 that the head of every man is Christ 12:17.090 --> 12:19.270 and the head of the woman is the man 12:19.270 --> 12:20.870 and the head of Christ is God. 12:21.830 --> 12:23.030 It's what the Bible says. 12:23.710 --> 12:24.690 All right, let's go back to this. 12:24.710 --> 12:26.450 So the first four points are just about women voting. 12:26.710 --> 12:27.350 I don't believe in it. 12:27.450 --> 12:28.230 I don't think it's biblical. 12:28.510 --> married in the eyes of the law, 12:41.630 --> 12:42.510 civilly dead. 12:43.350 --> 12:45.210 Okay, so go through it to Romans chapter seven. 12:45.970 --> 12:48.970 So they said, number one, we're not allowed to vote. 12:49.090 --> 12:50.150 Number two, we're not allowed to vote. 12:50.250 --> 12:51.350 Number three, we're not allowed to vote. 12:51.450 --> 12:52.530 Number four, we're not allowed to vote. 12:52.970 --> 12:57.830 Number five, man has made woman if married 12:57.830 --> 13:00.850 in the eyes of the law, civilly dead. 13:01.070 --> 13:02.130 And here's what they're saying. 13:02.270 --> 13:05.290 They're basically saying that once a woman gets married, 13:05.290 --> 13:09.990 it's like she loses her own independent legal existence. 13:10.330 --> 13:13.430 She no longer is her own free agent. 13:13.790 --> 13:16.850 Now she's basically just under the canopy of her husband. 13:17.190 --> 13:19.330 So she's like civilly dead 13:19.330 --> 13:22.730 because she no longer has like total autonomy 13:22.730 --> 13:24.450 and authority to do her own thing. 13:24.710 --> 13:26.330 Now she's married, she's under his authority. 13:26.570 --> 13:29.650 Yeah, that sounds like a biblical worldview. 13:30.150 --> 13:34.010 I mean, the Bible says that as the church 13:34.010 --> 13:35.310 is subject unto Christ, 13:35.830 --> 13:38.070 so let the wives be unto their own husbands and everything. 13:38.210 --> 13:40.490 The Bible says that wives should love their husbands, 13:40.690 --> 13:41.510 love their children, 13:41.510 --> 13:43.370 and be obedient to their own husbands. 13:43.770 --> 13:45.690 But look what the Bible says in Romans seven verse two 13:45.690 --> 13:47.410 because remember the way they worded it was, 13:47.890 --> 13:49.270 she's civilly dead. 13:49.650 --> 13:50.970 Okay, let's see what the Bible says. 13:51.090 --> 13:51.890 Romans seven two. 13:53.010 --> 13:54.270 For the woman which hath a husband 13:54.750 --> 13:57.590 is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth. 13:57.950 --> 13:59.430 But if the husband be dead, 13:59.850 --> 14:01.550 she's loose from the law of her husband. 14:01.930 --> 14:03.750 So then if while her husband liveth, 14:03.750 --> 14:05.070 does she be married to another man, 14:05.430 --> 14:06.690 she shall be called an adulterous. 14:06.870 --> 14:08.090 But if her husband be 14:31.630 So you know, you hear the Bible use this illustration 14:31.630 --> 14:34.550 about the church being the bride of Christ, right? 14:34.950 --> 14:37.010 Just like the church is subject to Christ, 14:37.310 --> 14:38.550 so should the wives be their own husband. 14:38.930 --> 14:40.670 You know what the Bible literally just said? 14:40.950 --> 14:42.210 The Bible literally just said 14:42.210 --> 14:45.510 that we as Christians are civilly dead 14:45.510 --> 14:47.450 because we're married to Jesus Christ. 14:48.910 --> 14:52.150 He literally is using this illustration about marriage 14:52.150 --> 14:57.870 to say you are become dead to the law, right? 14:57.990 --> 14:59.290 You're dead to the law. 14:59.850 --> 15:00.730 Verse four there, 15:01.430 --> 15:02.930 that you should be married to another. 15:03.730 --> 15:04.330 I mean, look, 15:05.210 --> 15:07.850 Paul is using the illustration of marriage 15:07.850 --> 15:10.750 to illustrate our status in Christ 15:11.350 --> 15:13.530 precisely because it's such a good illustration. 15:13.870 --> 15:15.050 And he says, well, you're dead. 15:15.610 --> 15:17.650 You live in Christ now, okay? 15:18.010 --> 15:18.890 Like think about this verse. 15:19.430 --> 15:21.890 Colossians 3-3, for you are dead 15:22.290 --> 15:24.870 and your life is hid with Christ in God. 15:26.110 --> 15:27.450 So I could literally say like, 15:27.450 --> 15:28.770 you're dead, ladies, 15:28.910 --> 15:30.330 but you're living in your husband. 15:32.010 --> 15:33.610 That's what they're complaining about. 15:34.030 -->
