Jesus Christ is the ultimate example 00:09.900 --> 00:18.460 For our lives the Bible says in 1st Peter 221 for even here on to where you called because Christ also suffered for us 00:18.460 --> 00:25.940 Leaving us an example that you should follow his steps go if you would do Philippians chapter number two 00:25.940 --> 00:30.120 So Jesus Christ left us an example to follow his 00:30.780 --> 00:33.740 Steps in Philippians chapter 2 the Bible also 00:34.260 --> 00:40.400 Hammers this point beginning verse 5 let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus 00:40.400 --> 00:47.680 So the idea here is that we should have the same mentality that Jesus Christ had about humility and so forth 00:47.680 --> 00:50.500 It says in verse 6 who being in the form of God 00:50.500 --> 00:54.960 Thought it not robbery to be equal with God 00:54.960 --> 01:00.540 So Jesus Christ is up in heaven before he was ever born in Bethlehem's manger 01:00.540 --> 01:05.680 Of course in the beginning was the word the word was with God the word was God God 01:06.400 --> 01:13.160 Eternally exists as the father the son and the Holy Ghost and so Jesus Christ is God 01:13.160 --> 01:19.860 Has always been God always will be God. So we see that Jesus is the example now flip over if you would to Hebrews 2 where we started 03:14.240 --> 03:16.300 Hebrews chapter 2 and 03:17.220 --> 03:21.700 The title of the sermon again is that Jesus lived by faith now 03:21.700 --> 03:25.240 Here's the thing we get saved by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ 03:25.240 --> 03:29.260 So we are saved by faith not of works listen any man should boast 03:29.260 --> 03:32.600 But faith does not stop at salvation 03:32.600 --> 03:41.300 The entire rest of the Christian life is lived by faith and I would say that faith is the most important ingredient in our Christian lives 03:41.300 --> 03:47.780 It's the one thing more than anything else that is going to make or break us how strong is our faith 03:47.780 --> 03:53.440 How much faith do we have that's really going to determine how far we go for the Lord is what kind of faith 03:53.440 --> 03:58.480 Do we have we live from faith to faith that just live by faith? 03:58.880 --> 04:04.640 And so when it comes to the attacks of Satan upon us and we talked about this this morning briefly 04:04.640 --> 04:08.400 But it says above all taking the shield of faith 04:08.400 --> 04:12.780 We're with you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked 04:12.780 --> 04:18.200 So everything that the devil is throwing at you can be quenched with the shield of faith 04:18.200 --> 04:24.060 What a super important component of our lives is faith every day 04:24.060 --> 04:29.720 Not just for salvation, but the whole rest of our Christian life is hanging on to promises of God 04:29.720 --> 04:33.460 believing the promises of God and pushing through difficulty 04:34.040 --> 04:40.400 Believing what God has said in his word doing what the Bible says because we believe it's right even if other people are telling us 04:40.400 --> 04:45.360 It's wrong even if circumstances might point to something in the Bible being wrong 04:45.360 --> 04:50.920 We know the Bible is never wrong and so we have the faith to always believe God's word all the time 04:50.920 --> 04:56.340 And that's what keeps us going in the Christian life, you know without faith. It's impossible to please him 04:57.140 --> 05:03.780 For he that come into God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him 05:03.780 --> 05:09.440 Now here's the thing if the Lord Jesus Christ came to this earth as a human being and 05:10.220 --> 05:12.240 Live the perfect life that none of us could live 05:12.240 --> 05:15.280 And he's leaving out an example that we should follow in his steps 05:15.280 --> 05:21.580 You know, it wouldn't really be much of an example if Jesus Christ never had to exercise any faith at all 05:21.580 --> 05:25.120 If Jesus Christ never lived by faith 05:25.120 --> 05:33.860 Then how can he be the ultimate example for us when that's like all our Christian life is about is faith every day all day 05:33.860 --> 05:39.720 And then to have this idea that Jesus Christ himself did not live a life of faith 05:39.720 --> 05:44.040 Well, then you know what he didn't live as a human being then and he didn't live the life 05:44.040 --> 05:47.820 That would be an example for us because our life is totally by faith now 05:47.820 --> 05:51.980 Let's look what the Bible says in Hebrews chapter 2 verse 9. It says but we see Jesus 05:52.780 --> 05:57.200 Who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death? 05:57.620 --> 06:03.380 Crowned with glory and honor that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man 06:03.380 --> 06:09.620 Now what does this mean when the Bible says that Jesus was made a little lower than the angels? 06:09.720 --> 06:14.780 Well, the Bible tells us in 2nd Peter chapter 2 verse 11 that angels are 06:14.780 --> 06:20.800 Greater in power and might than human beings are and that should be obvious to us 06:20.800 --> 06:25.560 Right, you know, we don't have the kind of power that we see angels having in the Bible 06:25.560 --> 06:30.660 And so he was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death 06:30.660 --> 06:36.860 And so he is you know, basically as a human being on this earth Jesus Christ 06:36.860 --> 06:38.700 He did not walk around 06:39.560 --> 06:40.940 Omniscient and omnipotent 06:41.620 --> 06:45.180 He just didn't okay now. You see Elisha 16:25.440 --> 16:29.220 Multiplying food you see Moses parting the Red Sea 16:29.220 --> 16:32.760 Turning water into blood calling forth all kinds of plagues 16:32.760 --> 16:39.860 And you also see the prophet of God when he's blind and he's physically can't see anything when the wife of King 16:39.860 --> 16:46.660 Jehoram comes in he says oh come on in wife of King Jehoram why famous thou thyself to be another why because God revealed 16:46.660 --> 16:48.820 That to him in a vision so here's the thing 16:48.820 --> 16:55.440 Jesus Christ when he was living on this earth was filled with the Holy Spirit to the max more than any other person 16:55.440 --> 17:01.380 Who's ever lived the Bible says God gave not the spirit by measure unto him now we in our Christian lives 17:01.380 --> 17:07.320 Unfortunately, we spend a lot of time in the flesh and we're living in the flesh and then other times we're walking in the Spirit 17:07.320 --> 17:12.120 Sometimes run the flesh sometimes run the Spirit sometimes we're filled with the Holy Spirit sometimes we're not 17:12.120 --> 17:17.680 Okay, Jesus Christ though was just filled with the Spirit to the max all the time 17:17.680 --> 17:21.220 So of course God's giving him all kinds of revelations 17:21.220 --> 17:26.220 God is giving him all kinds of visions and knowledge and 17:26.220 --> 17:32.400 Supernatural wisdom and awareness that doesn't mean that he knew every single thing though does it and not only that 17:32.400 --> 17:37.420 But because he's filled with the Holy Spirit and he's praying in the will of God all the time 17:37.420 --> 17:39.580 He's constantly doing miracles 17:39.580 --> 17:45.140 Be through the power of the Holy Spirit just like Moses did miracles through the power of the Holy Spirit 17:45.140 --> 17:49.840 Just like the Apostles went around and healed the sick raise the dead 17:49.840 --> 17:53.520 Cast out devils cleanse the lepers the Apostles did all those things 17:53.520 --> 18:00.740 Through the power of the Holy Spirit guess how Jesus did those things through the power of the Holy Spirit through prayer 18:00.740 --> 18:05.660 He prays and asks God to raise Lazarus from the dead 18:05.660 --> 18:10.940 Okay, so you have God the Father up in heaven and you have Jesus Christ down here on this earth 18:11.500 --> 18:19.440 actually living as a human being not just some Hindu version of the of the gospel where Jesus just comes down as like an 18:19.440 --> 18:26.260 Avatar or something like God is just an avatar as Jesus on this earth kind of pretending to be human 18:26.260 --> 18:28.180 Going through the motions of being human 18:28.180 --> 18:33.520 I know I believe he's actually born as a baby as a human when he was three 18:33.520 --> 18:37.000 He had the mentality of a three-year-old. My flesh is not going to seek corruption 46:11.660 --> 46:15.100 Keep going. It says in verse 25 for David speaketh concerning him 46:15.100 --> 46:20.380 I foresaw the Lord always before my face for he's on my right hand that I should not be moved 46:20.380 --> 46:25.900 Therefore did my heart rejoice and my tongue was glad moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope 46:25.900 --> 46:31.860 Because thou will not leave my soul in hell neither with thou suffer line holy one to seek corruption thou has made 46:32.340 --> 46:37.000 Known to me the ways of life thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance men and brethren 46:37.000 --> 46:44.360 Let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David that he is both dead and buried and his sepulchre is with us under this day 46:45.100 --> 46:47.140 He's saying this is not David talking 46:47.860 --> 46:50.880 This is David speaking of christ 46:51.780 --> 46:53.680 It says men and brethren 46:53.680 --> 46:58.420 David's dead his we can go visit his tomb if you want his body's there 46:58.960 --> 47:05.360 Therefore being a prophet verse 30 and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his loins 47:05.360 --> 47:09.320 According to the flesh he would raise up christ to sit on his throne. He's saying this before 47:09.800 --> 47:12.180 spake of the resurrection of christ 47:12.980 --> 47:16.620 That his soul was not left in hell now that it is flesh see corruption 47:16.620 --> 47:22.760 So there are two aspects to the resurrection of jesus christ aspect number one is that his soul was not left in hell 47:23.260 --> 47:29.700 Aspect number two his flesh did not see corruption and that shows you that jesus resurrection is a bodily resurrection 47:31.120 --> 47:38.140 Okay, the key doctrine of the faith that we must believe to be saved is we must believe in the bodily resurrection of jesus christ 47:40.020 --> 47:42.100 Why because the gospel is the death 47:42.600 --> 47:43.040 burial 47:44.020 --> 47:48.640 And resurrection of christ. Do you bury a soul? Do you bury a spirit? What do you bury? 47:49.540 --> 47:52.600 You bury the body and so the essential doctrine now 47:52.600 --> 47:55.800 Here's the thing there are a lot of people who may not understand 47:55.800 --> 47:59.240 The fact that jesus soul was in hell for three days and three nights 47:59.240 --> 48:03.440 That is not something that someone would have to know or believe in order to be saved 48:03.440 --> 48:06.960 That's a more like higher level doctrine or something like that 48:06.960 --> 48:13.420 What's the most basic doctrine of just you know getting someone saved is the death burial and resurrection of jesus 48:13.420 --> 48:17.680 You know and why because you know, it's a bodily resurrection 48:17.680 --> 48:21.140 And this is why the jahoba's witnesses are not saved 48:21.680 --> 48:24.820 Actually, there's a lot of reasons why they're not saved, but that's the biggest one 48:25.550 --> 48:29.340 Is that they don't believe in the resurrection of jesus because according to them 48:29.340 --> 48:33.720 Jesus rose means that his soul left his body bro. That's called dying 48:35.360 --> 48:39.540 Isn't it called dying when your soul leaves your body? I mean if I die right now, my soul would leave my body 48:39.540 --> 48:41.720 That's not a resurrection. That's called death 48:42.120 --> 48:46.200 No, you want to know what the resurrection of jesus is is that he physically 48:46.700 --> 48:53.180 Got up and walked out of the tomb with flesh and bone and literally went to his disciples 48:53.180 --> 48:58.180 Showed them the hole in his side showed them the holes in his hands and said be not faithless 48:58.180 --> 49:02.100 But believing and what did he do? He said hey you guys have anything to eat 49:02.880 --> 49:08.620 And he ate food with them just to show them how he was literally physically there 49:08.620 --> 49:12.300 He said hey a spirit hath not flesh and bone as you see me to have 49:12.840 --> 49:18.520 And he ate some fish. He ate a broiled honeycomb. He's eating food to show them 49:18.520 --> 49:23.360 I am bodily physically here risen from the dead. How can you not believe that? 49:23.420 --> 49:28.080 Well, it's called being unsaved when you just reject what the bible just flat out says 49:28.080 --> 49:31.640 It's a sign of somebody who is not actually saved 49:32.140 --> 49:36.100 And if you don't believe in the resurrection of christ, I mean you don't believe the gospel 49:36.900 --> 49:42.160 And specifically what aspect of the resurrection you need to believe in the fact that it's a bodily resurrection 49:42.820 --> 49:48.300 Because it's the death burial and resurrection and the burial is what happens to a spirit 49:48.300 --> 49:50.780 No a soul. No a body. He said i thirst 51:12.140 --> 51:13.200 saw him 22 51:14.300 --> 51:18.160 prophesied the dryness of his mouth and his tongue cleaving to the roof of his mouth with 51:18.160 --> 51:19.740 Thirst and being parched 51:19.740 --> 51:22.000 He was super troubled 51:23.100 --> 51:24.380 Grieved upset 51:24.380 --> 51:25.840 Groaning in his spirit 51:25.840 --> 51:31.760 He gets angry at times in the four gospels because he is living the bona fide human experience 51:31.760 --> 51:35.520 Now look does jesus do supernatural things? Absolutely 51:36.400 --> 51:37.780 Through the power of the holy spirit 51:37.780 --> 51:42.400 But you know what so did other prophets so did other apostles that didn't mean that they aren't human 51:43.080 --> 51:46.060 Right elisha can still be human and do miracles 51:46.060 --> 51:53.760 Jesus can still be human and do miracles right jesus can still pray and get miraculous answers to prayer 51:53.760 --> 52:00.420 Raise the dead cleanse the lepers heal the sick cast out devils, but so can the apostles also 52:00.420 --> 52:04.860 And so jesus truly left us an example that we should follow in his steps 52:05.440 --> 52:07.060 And just as jesus christ 52:07.780 --> 52:14.660 Lived by faith and trusted in god because the big the big thing that that jesus had to trust the father for is 52:14.660 --> 52:18.460 You're not going to leave my soul in hell. You're not going to suffer your holy one to see corruption 52:19.180 --> 52:25.680 You know that's the big thing that the bible hammers him trusting in god about and that's why he said hey, okay lord 52:25.680 --> 52:32.740 I'm commending my spirit unto you now. I'm turning it over to you for safekeeping, which reminds me if I give my wallet back 52:32.740 --> 52:33.340 So don't forget 52:35.000 --> 52:37.900 All right, it looks a little lighter than what I gave it to you, but hey 52:39.340 --> 52:44.320 Well, guess what when we go through our lives 52:46.220 --> 52:47.900 Faith is the big one 52:49.040 --> 52:51.840 I mean look when you see people 52:52.600 --> 52:53.800 living a life 52:54.500 --> 52:55.320 That's just 52:55.320 --> 52:56.360 carnal 52:56.820 --> 53:01.000 And worldly and they're just looking out for themselves and not caring about 53:01.460 --> 53:05.540 Other people not caring about putting god first not seeking first the kingdom of god 53:05.540 --> 53:09.320 You know what it tells me is that this person is lacking in faith 53:10.260 --> 53:15.960 Like what if somebody's like well, you know what I'm just gonna totally get out of church and just focus on only work 53:15.960 --> 53:17.960 I'm just gonna focus on work focus on career 53:17.960 --> 53:20.400 I don't have time for church because I'm too busy making money 53:20.400 --> 53:24.700 You know what this tells me is that this person does not believe the promise in the bible that says 53:24.700 --> 53:28.660 Seek he first the kingdom of god and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you 53:28.660 --> 53:32.020 Now it doesn't mean that they don't believe it at a superficial level 53:32.020 --> 53:37.600 Like yeah, of course every saved christian believes everything in the bible on some level 53:37.600 --> 53:40.480 But there's kind of like believing something there's like believing something 53:41.820 --> 53:43.840 How much faith does it take to get saved? 53:44.280 --> 53:48.560 You know, I think that it takes a just a super little tiny amount of faith to get saved 53:49.700 --> 53:55.580 Thank goodness. I mean look jesus said hey if you have the faith of a grain of mustard seed you could move mountains 53:56.780 --> 53:58.000 So here's the thing 53:58.520 --> 54:02.260 Does it take a lot of faith to get saved? I don't think it takes a lot of faith to get saved at all 54:02.260 --> 54:07.380 But whatever little tiny microscopic faith you have you just have to put it all on jesus 54:07.600 --> 54:13.720 It doesn't matter how much faith you have you just have to believe on jesus with all your heart 54:13.720 --> 54:15.580 And just put all your faith on jesus 54:15.580 --> 54:21.140 So you might you know walk up with you know a dollar worth of faith or a thousand dollars worth of faith 54:21.140 --> 54:23.420 You just got to put it all on jesus and you're saved 54:24.680 --> 54:30.680 But here's the thing people who just have a little tiny bit of faith and then they believe in jesus they're going to heaven 54:30.680 --> 54:36.000 You know like the guy who said to jesus lord, I believe help that on my unbelief 54:36.540 --> 54:39.080 How much faith did that guy have if he's literally saying? 54:39.760 --> 54:41.680 Well, I believe but help my unbelief 54:42.720 --> 54:45.220 Well, that was enough because jesus does it for him 54:46.020 --> 54:49.320 So yeah, you know believing and doubting 54:50.660 --> 54:54.920 Is just part of being a christian. This is part of being a human. It's part of life. Okay 54:56.320 --> 55:00.840 So here's the thing about that is that you put all your faith on jesus. Maybe it's just a tiny bit 55:00.840 --> 55:03.100 Well, here's the thing as we read our bible 55:03.600 --> 55:12.780 As we pray as we sing the hymns as we go to church as we win souls to christ as we live for god our faith grows 55:14.580 --> 55:16.880 Right because the fruit of the spirit is faith 55:18.020 --> 55:23.560 So the more we walk with god the more experience we get the more our faith increases and grows 55:24.140 --> 55:28.180 As a christian then we start having more faith. So there's the thing. Yeah, of course 55:28.180 --> 55:33.220 We all believe the bible right unless you're an unsaved person like these unsaved people who say 55:33.220 --> 55:38.440 Jesus knew everything while he walked on this earth because I think mark 1332 is a lie 55:38.440 --> 55:42.060 Well, you're a liar and you're going to hell because you're just proving to everybody 55:42.060 --> 55:46.940 You're a false prophet when you say that because mark 1332 is a bible verse. That's true 55:47.360 --> 55:52.640 And and so here's the thing obviously we all believe the whole bible in the sense that we believe 55:52.640 --> 55:57.440 That it's all from god.
