Now we see here in the text, look at verse 13, enter ye in at the straight gate 00:13.690 --> 00:22.070 for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction and many there 00:22.070 --> 00:28.150 be which go in there at because straight is the gate and narrow is the way which 00:28.150 --> 00:34.690 leadeth unto life and few there be that find it. So based on Christ's own words 00:34.690 --> 00:41.690 the many are going to the broad way of destruction and the few are going the way 00:41.690 --> 00:47.430 that leads to life. So just by you know understanding Christ's words we would 00:47.430 --> 00:52.470 have to realize that true religion and true faith and true Christianity will 00:52.470 --> 00:59.790 always be a minority position, a minority position by Christ's clear words here in 00:59.790 --> 01:04.490 the text that it's few. Now I'm not going to belabor this point because I want to 01:04.490 --> 01:08.030 really go through a lot of Bible but this passage when it says here 01:08.030 --> 01:11.790 specifically the straight gate it's meaning it's narrow meaning that there's 01:11.790 --> 01:16.170 only one way to heaven and that's through faith in Jesus Christ. Now there's 01:16.170 --> 01:20.810 many other religions there's many other beliefs in the world. Unfortunately 01:20.810 --> 01:28.110 all of them lead to hell. The reality is that the vast majority of beliefs out 01:28.110 --> 01:32.990 there are false and there's really only one way to heaven and that is through 01:32.990 --> 01:38.270 faith in Jesus Christ that is the only way to be saved. Now in this text you 01:38.270 --> 01:42.990 could probably apply this is mostly talking about just the big picture 01:42.990 --> 01:46.650 right we're talking about just every religion. Hinduism is a false 01:46.650 --> 01:52.350 religion. Judaism is a false religion. Islam is a false religion. Being an 01:52.350 --> 01:56.290 atheist of course is not going to lead you anywhere but to the grave and so any 01:56.290 --> 02:00.610 of these major religions unfortunately are just false religions they cannot 02:00.610 --> 02:04.390 save. Some people say oh there's thousands of religions there really 02:04.390 --> 02:09.770 isn't that many religions there's only kind of like five major religions and 02:09.770 --> 02:14.410 then there's of course a handful of just crazy weird groups and strange 02:14.410 --> 02:19.570 ideas but the vast majority of humanity falls into one of the five big 02:19.570 --> 02:23.070 categories. Then within those categories we understand there's different 02:23.070 --> 02:26.810 divisions and different classifications but for the most part it's basically 02:26.810 --> 02:30.430 Christianity if you include Catholicism is considered the largest 02:30.430 --> 02:36.670 religion in the world it's like 2.3 billion adherents it's simply like a 02:36.670 --> 02:40.990 billion Catholics eight or nine hundred thousand Protestants and then 02:40.990 --> 02:47.450 300 million Orthodox and so you kind of have that classification and again it's 02:47.450 --> 02:51.150 like 1.1 billion Catholics and I don't know if you add up the Catholics and 02:51.150 --> 02:55.030 the Protestants it's about 2 billion you throw in the Orthodox it's another 02:55.030 --> 02:59.770 300 so it's about 2.3 billion people that are under the umbrella of 02:59.770 --> 03:04.370 Christianity in any form but you know what is there maybe 8 billion people 03:04.370 --> 03:09.170 in the world so you know almost a third or somewhere in these ranges a 03:09.170 --> 03:13.550 fourth to a third of all of humanity falls under that umbrella then you got 03:13.550 --> 03:18.790 Islam Islam is another billion people you've got Hinduism is another like it's 03:18.790 --> 03:23.290 probably the third largest religion maybe like I don't know the exact number 03:23.290 --> 03:27.290 you can look it up later maybe a 500 million to a billion somewhere in 03:27.290 --> 03:33.550 that range but you've got almost half of the religions already right there 03:33.550 --> 03:37.710 plus you have a lot of atheists unfortunately at this point but there 03:37.710 --> 03:42.510 really isn't that many options beyond this so the vast majority of these 03:42.510 --> 03:46.890 beliefs though that are non-Christian you know are just pure Satanism 03:46.890 --> 03:52.770 worshiping idolatry obviously Islam isn't into idolatry but it's a very 03:52.770 --> 03:59.130 satanic false religion it's a perversion of the Bible and it's a 03:59.130 --> 04:03.990 huge corruption Mormonism kind of falls the same line as Islam but look the 04:03.990 --> 04:09.070 majority of this world are just wrong Christ said many are not saved the few 04:09.070 --> 04:11.670 are the ones they're gonna find the right religion and then even within 04:11.670 --> 04:16.530 Christianity though unfortunately the majority again are not saved look what 04:16.530 --> 04:20.150 it says further down in the text verse 21 not everyone that say the enemy Lord 04:20.150 --> 04:23.610 Lord shall enter in the kingdom of heaven so this is important because we 04:23.610 --> 04:27.830 just went from what I'm describing is like the whole world to now we're 04:27.830 --> 04:31.210 narrowing into Christianity everything under that umbrella right 04:32.290 --> 04:36.290 Catholicism orthodox Protestant everything under that umbrella anything that 04:36.290 --> 04:40.530 would at least give lip service to the God of the Bible okay so we interesting about this passage is 05:13.810 --> 05:18.110 you know they're there before the Lord they're not even saying they serve 05:18.110 --> 05:24.150 some other God he's not even necessarily saying they served another God and they 05:24.150 --> 05:28.090 even call him Lord so they're recognizing the right God they have the 05:28.090 --> 05:32.510 right title for him they're not like you're surprising me I thought you were 05:32.510 --> 05:37.730 someone else and yet they're not saved why are they not saved well they didn't 05:37.730 --> 05:41.150 do the will of the father did they that's what it says in verse 21 they 05:41.150 --> 05:45.350 didn't do the will of the father which is in heaven what did they do well 05:45.350 --> 05:47.870 what did they say that they did they said that they prophesied in the 05:47.870 --> 05:53.370 name they cast out devils and they did many wonderful works now some people 05:53.370 --> 05:56.550 would interpret this passage they're just lying about this or they didn't do this 05:56.550 --> 05:59.070 stuff or something like that that's a weird way to read the text and there's 05:59.070 --> 06:02.890 no indication that they didn't do these things I would I would venture to say 06:02.890 --> 06:06.750 if you're standing for God on judgment day you would probably point to the 06:06.750 --> 06:11.970 stuff that you really did and so who is this group of people well I'll tell 06:11.970 --> 06:16.110 you it is it's Catholics and Orthodox that's who it is and it's a lot of 06:16.110 --> 06:19.890 Protestants as well because again trying to cast out demons and cast out 06:34.010 --> 06:37.170 devils and they're using all their incantations and they're using all their 06:37.170 --> 06:40.570 incense and they're always praying to all these saints they're always praying to 06:40.570 --> 06:45.290 not be cursed it's very pagan type religion and then not only that of 06:45.290 --> 06:47.710 course the Catholics and the Orthodox are going to point to the fact that 06:47.710 --> 06:50.990 they did all these wonderful works and in their mind they've done a lot of 06:50.990 --> 06:54.550 wonderful works they've they've given money to the poor and they've they have 06:54.550 --> 06:57.310 their mother Teresa's and they have all these different people that they would 06:57.310 --> 07:01.510 point to and say look we've done all these works we tried to help people but 07:01.510 --> 07:06.950 the problem is did they ever say hey we believe that salvation was by faith 07:06.950 --> 07:10.710 and what Jesus Christ did did they say hey Jesus Christ died in the cross 07:10.710 --> 07:14.250 for all my sins did they say hey Jesus Christ rose again from the dead 07:14.250 --> 07:18.210 hey we thought we had an advocate with the father Jesus Christ the righteous 07:18.210 --> 07:23.590 hey we trusted that our faith in Jesus is going to take us to heaven no what 07:23.590 --> 07:28.990 they said is we did works because the majority are wrong and the majority of 07:28.990 --> 07:32.290 people under the umbrella of Christianity think they're getting to heaven because 07:32.290 --> 07:37.590 of their works and notice what Christ says here he says to them and then 07:37.590 --> 07:43.830 will I profess unto them I never knew you I never knew you depart from me 07:43.830 --> 07:46.890 that work iniquity because here's the thing in order to get saved you have 07:46.890 --> 07:50.670 to admit that you're a sinner and you need a savior not that you worked your way 07:50.670 --> 07:54.710 to heaven and into the right umbrella of Christianity and look 08:13.390 --> 08:18.670 unfortunately many Protestants while they're not necessarily as idolatrous and 08:18.670 --> 08:23.350 weird as the Catholics they still profess a works based salvation and look this 08:23.350 --> 08:27.370 will make people mad you get up and you say Billy Graham was teaching that you 08:27.370 --> 08:30.630 had to repent of your sins and turn over a new leaf in order to get saved and 08:30.630 --> 08:33.690 it's like well that guy's a false prophet because Billy Graham was not 08:33.690 --> 08:36.870 teaching salvation as a free gift he was not teaching his faith alone and 08:36.870 --> 08:40.150 he was not teaching that once you say once your savior always saved and 08:40.150 --> 08:43.110 so you know what I don't believe Billy Graham is saved at all and look at the 08:43.110 --> 08:45.890 fruit of Billy Graham's ministry when is it that you're running into people 08:45.890 --> 08:50.710 that got saved because of Billy Graham I don't believe John MacArthur is saved 08:50.710 --> 08:53.670 either because if you look at the fruit of his ministry and you look at the 08:53.670 --> 08:56.690 ministers that followed in John MacArthur's footsteps they don't 08:56.690 --> 09:00.730 advocate salvation by faith alone and he's notoriously known for 09:00.730 --> 09:05.130 establishing this term Lordship salvation and you can read his 09:05.130 --> 09:10.610 commentaries he's had his own like commentary Bibles like the John 09:10.610 --> 09:14.970 MacArthur study Bible where he commentates on Matthew 7 and these 09:14.970 --> 09:18.550 different passages and he says oh it's difficult to go to heaven because you 09:18.550 --> 09:22.750 have to turn away from all your sins and it's like well then no one saved because 09:22.750 --> 09:27.650 no one's given up all their sin no one stopped sinning and look it's not 09:27.650 --> 09:31.850 difficult to be saved if you believe salvation was a free gift by faith in 09:31.850 --> 09:35.090 Jesus Christ how could you then get up and say it's difficult it's not 09:35.090 --> 09:39.330 difficult and it's not difficult by any means of what you have to do it 09:39.330 --> 09:42.730 could be difficult in the sense that there's so many lies out there it's hard 09:42.730 --> 09:46.830 to find the truth but that's not what he was saying and that's not really 09:46.830 --> 09:50.870 necessarily what's being emphasized what is being emphasized by him and his 09:50.870 --> 09:55.250 ilk of false teachers is that it's difficult to give up all your are we 10:19.670 --> 10:23.310 doing anymore let's just eat drink and be merry until we die but you know what 10:23.310 --> 10:27.190 God did make it easy he made it as easy as humanly possible same way that I get 11:16.510 --> 11:21.330 to go to heaven because Jesus already paid my bill I don't have to go wash 11:21.330 --> 11:26.510 dishes on top of that and if I did he didn't really pay the entire bill so 11:26.510 --> 11:31.010 you know what they're doing is they're calling Jesus a liar and they're 11:31.010 --> 11:33.870 blaspheming the God of the Bible and they do not believe the record that 11:33.870 --> 11:38.590 God gave of his son and they're not saved and they must humble themselves and 11:38.590 --> 11:42.670 repent of their false religion and put their faith in Jesus Christ that 11:42.670 --> 11:47.550 actually paid for all of their sins that's how salvation is acquired is 11:47.550 --> 11:52.050 through faith in Jesus Christ but even in times past it was no
