Ahab. 00:07.940 --> 00:10.860 Of course, Ahab himself is already dead. 00:11.100 --> 00:13.600 If you remember, even the very first verse 00:13.600 --> 00:17.500 of the book of Second Kings talks about the fact 00:17.500 --> 00:19.860 that this is taking place after the death of Ahab. 00:20.360 --> 00:24.300 But other people surrounding Ahab are now finally 00:24.300 --> 00:26.540 going to be judged and get what's coming to them 00:27.000 --> 00:29.000 because of the whole Naboth incident. 00:29.000 --> 00:31.580 If you remember, there were false witnesses, 00:32.360 --> 00:35.640 two men that lied and then they caused Naboth 00:35.640 --> 00:37.920 to be put to death for a crime that he didn't commit 00:37.920 --> 00:41.160 just so that Ahab could get that garden of herbs 00:41.160 --> 00:43.920 and Elijah had come and prophesied 00:43.920 --> 00:46.260 and talked about the horrible punishment 00:46.260 --> 00:48.940 that would come upon Ahab and Jezebel 00:49.520 --> 00:50.580 and their whole household. 00:51.260 --> 00:53.280 So if you actually kind of do the math 00:53.280 --> 00:54.300 and figure out the timeline, 00:54.480 --> 00:55.960 it's hard to figure it out exactly, 00:56.400 --> 00:58.820 but pretty much about three years went by 00:59.440 --> 01:02.280 before Ahab is killed and is judged by God. 01:02.880 --> 01:04.540 But by the time these events happened, 01:04.720 --> 01:08.040 it's more like 13 or 14 years have gone by 01:08.040 --> 01:10.560 when the full prophecy is being fulfilled 01:11.020 --> 01:13.540 and you have Jezebel being eaten by dogs 01:13.540 --> 01:16.740 and all of these other people surrounding Ahab 01:16.740 --> 01:20.080 and his household being smoked in this chapter. 01:20.580 --> 01:21.960 So it's kind of a long chapter. 01:22.080 --> 01:22.820 We're not going to be able to cover 01:22.820 --> 01:23.920 every single thing, obviously. 01:34.680 --> 01:35.860 But look at verse number one. 01:35.860 --> 01:36.280 It says, 01:36.280 --> 01:41.080 So Elisha is obviously kind of the big name prophet. 01:41.300 --> 01:45.020 He's the main man of God in the northern kingdom of Israel. 01:45.520 --> 01:48.600 But there are a lot of other younger preachers 01:48.600 --> 01:50.860 that he's training different protégés, 01:51.000 --> 01:52.000 the sons of the prophets 01:52.460 --> 01:54.560 that he's working with and advising 01:54.560 --> 01:55.700 and training and teaching. 01:56.060 --> 01:58.160 So he sends one of these young preacher boys 01:58.560 --> 02:00.680 to go and anoint Jehu king. 02:01.080 --> 02:02.440 And it says in verse number two, 02:03.020 --> 02:05.620 when thou comest thither, look out there, Jehu, 02:06.000 --> 02:09.080 the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshai, 02:09.380 --> 02:12.320 and go in and make him arise up from among his brethren 02:12.320 --> 02:14.000 and carry him to an inner chamber, 02:14.400 --> 02:17.320 then take the box of oil and pour it on his head 02:17.320 --> 02:18.740 and say, thus saith the Lord, 02:18.740 --> 02:21.940 I have anointed thee, king, over Israel, 02:22.540 --> 02:24.900 then open the door and flee and tarry not. 02:25.060 --> 02:27.500 So this Jehu is a military man 02:27.500 --> 02:29.140 and he's not the king of Israel. 02:29.420 --> 02:31.760 He's not in the succession to become the next king. 02:32.200 --> 02:35.580 He's not the prince or family or anything like that. 02:36.120 --> 02:38.880 God is going to destroy the house of Ahab 02:38.880 --> 02:43.600 and end that dynasty and start a new dynasty with Jehu. 02:44.060 --> 02:46.760 And so he is kind of privately doing this, 02:46.760 --> 02:48.860 taking him into the room and saying, 02:49.180 --> 02:50.840 you have been anointed by God, 02:51.280 --> 02:53.580 you are going to be the king of Israel. 02:54.000 --> 02:55.880 You're going to be used by God to destroy 02:55.880 --> 02:57.400 and wipe out the house of Ahab 02:57.400 --> 03:00.180 and then you're going to take over and become the king. 03:00.580 --> 03:02.940 And the purpose of pouring oil upon his head, 03:03.320 --> 03:05.720 this is symbolic, this anointing 03:05.720 --> 03:09.000 was something that would anoint prophets, right? 03:09.100 --> 03:11.920 We saw Elisha being anointed prophet. 03:12.340 --> 03:16.340 We saw kings and priests throughout the Bible 03:16.340 --> 03:17.520 being anointed. 03:17.680 --> 03:20.900 And the idea here is that the oil pictures the Holy Spirit. 03:21.420 --> 03:25.000 And so the idea is that in order to preach powerful sermons, 03:25.080 --> 03:27.060 you have to be anointed by the Holy Spirit, right? 03:27.140 --> 03:28.380 In order to be a prophet of God, 03:28.840 --> 03:30.500 you need that anointing of the Holy Spirit. 03:30.740 --> 03:32.580 You're not going to be able to just in the flesh, 03:32.940 --> 03:36.140 go to Toastmasters and learn how to be a good speaker 03:36.140 --> 03:38.800 and read a book about it and imitate other preachers 03:38.800 --> 03:41.360 and even studying and learning the Bible is not enough. 03:41.760 --> 03:44.720 Ultimately, in order to be a spirit filled preacher, 03:44.720 --> 03:46.440 you got to be filled with the spirit of God. 03:46.980 --> 03:48.160 That's how you're going to be effective. 03:48.600 --> 03:50.300 That's how God's going to use really busy doing stuff, 05:08.580 --> 05:11.280 but Mary's over here sitting at the feet of Jesus 05:11.280 --> 05:13.400 and we need to have that walk with God 05:13.400 --> 05:15.020 so we can have the power of God 05:15.020 --> 05:16.900 so that we can be greatly used by God. 05:17.300 --> 05:18.920 So we need to be in our Bibles, 05:19.020 --> 05:22.060 praying, walking with God, spirit he seems to be a very well-respected member 06:19.040 --> 06:20.600 of the group, and we're gonna see that in a moment, 06:20.900 --> 06:24.160 that he is someone that is already kind of looked at --> 06:33.040 And so he says, you, O captain, 06:33.340 --> 06:35.700 verse six, and he arose and went into the house 06:35.700 --> 06:38.720 and he poured the oil on his head and said unto him, 06:38.720 --> 06:40.540 thus saith the Lord God of Israel, 06:40.820 --> 06:43.180 I've anointed thee king over the people of the Lord, 06:43.640 --> 06:46.240 even over Israel, and thou shalt smite 06:46.240 --> 06:47.660 the house of Ahab thy master. 06:47.740 --> 06:49.400 And again, remember, it's not Ahab himself, 06:49.840 --> 06:51.600 but rather it is his relatives, 06:52.140 --> 06:53.620 and his descendants, and so forth, 06:54.080 --> 06:57.120 and his wife, that I may avenge the blood 06:57.120 --> 06:58.420 of my servants, the prophets, 06:58.840 --> 07:00.420 and the blood of all the servants of the Lord 07:00.420 --> 07:02.340 at the hand of Jezebel, 07:02.600 --> 07:05.160 for the whole house of Ahab shall perish, 07:05.500 --> 07:07.440 and I will cut off from Ahab, 07:07.440 --> 07:09.160 him that pisseth against the wall, 07:09.440 --> 07:11.380 and him that is shut up and left in Israel. 07:11.940 --> 07:13.980 So he's saying, him that pisseth against the wall 07:13.980 --> 07:15.120 means every male, right? 07:15.240 --> 07:17.620 Because obviously women sit down 07:17.620 --> 07:18.480 when they go to the bathroom, 07:18.700 --> 07:20.560 whereas men pee standing up, 07:20.640 --> 07:22.400 they piss against the wall, it's called a urinal, 07:22.760 --> 07:23.920 now they're starting to put urinals 07:23.920 --> 07:25.440 in the ladies' room at some places, 07:25.600 --> 07:28.800 but that's because we're living in crazy times, okay? 07:29.160 --> 07:30.620 Normal people understand 07:30.620 --> 07:33.460 that men piss against the wall, women don't, 07:33.620 --> 07:35.900 because men are standing up, women aren't. 07:35.900 --> 07:38.120 And so that's just a way of saying, 07:38.200 --> 07:39.660 and this comes up six times in the Bible, 07:40.080 --> 07:41.620 it's just a way of expressing 07:42.180 --> 07:43.840 all of the males are gonna perish. 07:44.000 --> 07:45.380 Maybe some of the females will survive, 07:45.920 --> 07:48.400 none of the males are going to survive. 07:49.500 --> 07:51.900 And so God is gonna completely wipe out 07:51.900 --> 07:53.780 the household of Ahab 07:53.780 --> 07:56.720 because of the blood of his servants, the prophets, 07:56.820 --> 07:59.900 because not only did Ahab murder Naboth, 08:00.040 --> 08:01.960 through Jezebel and that whole thing 08:01.960 --> 08:02.800 with the false witnesses, 08:03.260 --> 08:05.740 but also just killing the prophets of the Lord, 08:05.740 --> 08:07.080 persecuting the people of God. 08:07.400 --> 08:10.700 And here's the thing, God is going to avenge his servants, 08:11.140 --> 08:13.220 God is going to avenge his people. 08:13.300 --> 08:15.620 The Bible says, touch not mine anointed 08:15.620 --> 08:19.440 and do my prophets no harm, right? 08:19.560 --> 08:21.400 And the Bible says God even reproved kings 08:22.040 --> 08:23.900 for the sakes of his preachers and prophets. 08:24.320 --> 08:26.020 God will protect his people, 08:26.320 --> 08:28.760 and when people go out and persecute the people of God, 08:29.160 --> 08:31.480 attack the people of God, assault the people of God, 08:31.960 --> 08:34.280 slander the people of God, especially prophets, 08:34.280 --> 08:36.240 especially preachers and men of God. 08:36.680 --> 08:39.440 When you attack and harm those people, 08:39.820 --> 08:42.060 God is going to bring vengeance upon you. 08:42.160 --> 08:43.320 It might come three years later, 08:43.660 --> 08:46.820 it might come 13, 14 years later, but it is coming. 08:47.200 --> 08:49.380 The Bible says, vengeance belongeth unto me, 08:49.520 --> 08:51.460 said the Lord, I will repay. 08:52.320 --> 08:53.860 And so you can take that to the bank, 08:54.040 --> 08:55.060 that's what the Bible says. 08:55.800 --> 09:00.160 And so it says here that they're going to avenge, 09:00.160 --> 09:02.380 you know, the blood of these prophets 09:02.380 --> 09:03.960 and the persecution of God's people 09:03.960 --> 09:04.440 and so forth. 09:04.720 --> 09:06.460 And it says in verse number nine, 09:06.640 --> 09:08.120 I will make the house of Ahab, 09:08.440 --> 09:10.300 like the house of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, 09:10.800 --> 09:13.700 and like the house of Baasha, the son of Haidja. 09:13.800 --> 09:15.960 These are other failed dynasties 09:15.960 --> 09:17.660 of the northern kingdom of Israel. 09:17.800 --> 09:19.980 Because what's interesting, when the kingdom split 09:20.500 --> 09:21.940 into the northern kingdom of Israel 09:21.940 --> 09:23.340 and the southern kingdom of Judah, 09:23.940 --> 09:27.440 you know, David's line is pretty much just king 09:27.440 --> 09:29.260 the whole time down in that southern kingdom, 09:29.500 --> 09:30.960 all the way to the bitter end. 09:30.960 --> 09:31.700 And you're pretty much staying 09:31.700 --> 09:33.860 with that same Davidic dynasty, 09:34.260 --> 09:36.440 whereas the northern kingdom, it keeps switching 09:37.180 --> 09:39.060 and people just keep getting wiped out 09:39.060 --> 09:40.420 and smoked and replaced. 09:40.700 --> 09:42.860 And that's what we're seeing again in this chapter. 09:43.760 --> 09:47.500 And so it says, and the dog shall eat Jezebel 09:47.960 --> 09:49.380 in the portion of Jezreel 09:49.380 --> 09:50.780 and there shall be none to bury her. 09:51.140 --> 09:52.780 And he opened the door and fled. 09:53.300 --> 09:55.400 And this is obviously a curse in the Bible 09:55.400 --> 09:56.920 when you don't get a proper burial, 09:57.260 --> 09:58.700 when you're just eye that mocketh at his father 10:05.480 --> 10:07.440 and despiseeth to obey his mother, 10:07.900 --> 10:09.940 the ravens of the valley shall pick it out 10:09.940 --> 10:12.100 and the young called The Doors, 10:19.280 --> 10:20.740 obviously long before I was a kid 10:20.740 --> 10:21.900 because I was a kid in the 80s 10:21.900 --> 10:23.420 and the Doors were in the 60s. 10:23.440 --> 10:27.420 But I remember watching a concert on TV 10:27.880 --> 10:30.540 from The Doors being replayed years and years later 10:31.040 --> 10:32.980 and the lead singer of The Doors, you know, 10:33.060 --> 10:34.020 during his songs, 10:34.060 --> 10:36.460 they just go off on all these musical interludes 10:36.460 --> 10:38.380 and he would just start to just kind of freestyle 10:38.820 --> 10:42.500 at the mic and just start waxing poetic and saying things. 10:42.700 --> 10:45.160 And I mean, those are some of the most wicked things 10:45.160 --> 10:46.860 that he would say, you wanna die in an open field 11:32.320 --> 11:35.180 and I want the birds to pick out my eyes. 11:35.300 --> 11:37.760 And then in the same song, he says, 11:38.280 --> 11:38.780 Father. 11:39.400 --> 11:40.400 Yes, son. 11:40.840 --> 11:42.180 I wanna kill you. 11:42.700 --> 11:44.380 And he's talking about killing his father 11:45.040 --> 11:47.940 and you know, doing something else horrible to his mother. 11:48.260 --> 11:50.260 And you know, it just goes to show you 11:50.260 --> 11:53.560 how a lot of these musicians are just satanic 11:53.560 --> 11:56.280 and it's like, they're almost
